Entering Numbers
Decimal Mode
Selecting the dec mode button displays the contents of the stack in decimal format. All numbers are stored internally as double precision floating point numbers, even when displaying them in other modes. Numbers can be entered as simple strings of digits followed by a single decimal point followed by any number of digits. The E key can be used to enter numbers in scientific or engineering notation. If you don't know how to enter numbers into a calculator, you might want to reconsider downloading this application. But for those of you unsure, you can enter number like this:
- 78234.702
- -12
- 1E2 (entered as 1 x 102 or 100)
- 1.2E3 (entered as 1.2 x 103 or 1200)
There are probably 100 or so other numbers you can use with the calculator, but I'm not telling what they are. Experiment and you're guaranteed to have fun.
Hexadecimal Mode
Selecting the hex mode button forces the stack to display all numbers in hexadecimal format. This mode also activates the the A-F keys allowing you to key in numbers in hexadecimal notation.
Binary Mode
Selecting the bin mode button forces the stack to display all numbers in binary notation. This mode also deactivates all numeric entry keys with the exception of 1 and 0.
